Post Subject: Reaper Edge Gaming Mouse
Posted on: Jun 2, 2008

One area that we've always loved diving into is gaming hardware. This stuff is usually at the top of its game. This means quality hardware with lots of great features. Today I'm happy to announce we'll be reviewing the Reaper Edge gaming mouse by Ideazon.

Right out of the box, the Reaper Edge looks great. The first thing I notice is that the mouse feels pretty solid. Typically something we've been seeing lately is the option to add weights to your mouse, but this wasn't something they needed to do with this mouse since it already feels solid.

The Reaper Edge is a four button mouse with a scroll wheel. The top of the mouse comes with a real nice carbon fiber design. On the thumb side of the mouse we have a rubber no slip pad where two of the buttons are located. The rubber scroll wheel is specially designed to replicate a tire tread to give you extra grip while looking original.

Directly below the scroll wheel is the DPI button. This is one of the bigger features of gaming mice. The DPI button allows for in-game changes to mouse sensitivity. This is especially convenient if you go from driving a tank to using a sensitive sniper rifle in the same game. The DPI button allows you to toggle between five different DPI settings, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000, and 3200 DPI.

Now that we've given you the specs it's time for the first hand experience.
The mouse feels very comfortable. It's roughly the typical size, so it's not to large or small. The two side buttons are both easily accessible as well. The rubber tire grip scroll wheel is a nice touch as well and feels very easy to locate since it's a bit bigger and wider then a typical scroll wheel.

The DPI changes instantly, there isn't any delay. There are also LED indicators on the mouse to let you quickly know what DPI you're at, which is a very handy feature. Moving the mouse around on my desk, I don't pick up any jumpy movement, everything is very smooth. The surface friction also feels very minimal, which is especially great for gaming.

Another cool point I wanted to hit on was the customization. This is another great marker of Ideazon. Similar to their Merc line of Gaming Keyboards, everything on the Reaper Edge is customizable. While you don't need to install anything to use the mouse, if you do choose to install their software you get this added benefit.

I'd like to thank Ideazon for the opportunity to review their Reaper Edge gaming mouse. With the features of customizable buttons, great feel, and range of DPI settings, this is a win in my book. If anyone is looking for a new mouse, especially for gaming, the Reaper Edge looks great, has a number of features and performs great.

If anyone has any comments or questions I'd love to hear them :)

I'll say it now, theres nothing more annoying than gaming with wireless stuff when the batteries start to go. lol They'll last months without fail, but the one time will make you wanna throw it against the wall

Ive been wireless(as far as my mouse goes) for at least 7-8 years now. Ive never had any issues, but I regularly changed my batteries to recharge them. My current wireless mouse uses one "AA" battery, and lasts at LEAST 6 months.

sounds like it didnt auto shutoff.

My current one is a Microsoft 7000 wireless Laser mouse. Its a tad smaller than what I am used to, but it works incredibly well, and its acurate. Ive not had any real issues with it, and the battery life, like I said, is about 6 months.

Heh. I still wonder when you are going to mail me that VGA card that you found for me...lol I know your busy. especialy with the Fusionmods birthday bash now. Just let me know when you get to ship it.

I like my current wireless mouse, but it cramps my wrist sometimes because its smaller than my old wireless mouse. I may take the guts from the 7000 and put it in my old mouse body, if I can...
It will make my wrist so much more happy!

that's going out tomorrow too :)
I found a couple of them, I couldn't remember which ones worked, so I passed em all your way.

And actually thinking about it now. I don't even remember if they're ISA 16 or 8 bit because I think now that you specified 8 bit.

Gimme a quick refresher, they have the same grooves don't they? (lol couldn't remember the technical name for the grooves)

8-bit ISA VGA cards are what I need. they are the shorter ISA connector. 16-bit ISA connectors are longer, and have 2 card edge connectors(one long, and one short)

DO A LITTLE DANCE, MAKE A LITTLE NOISE, GET DOWN TONIGHT.... GET DOWN TONIGHT!

this thing IS sweet

ok there are some seriously cool little perks. the center scroll is ridged, but not like normal in some repetitive line format. no. more combatant. like something you would expect to find on an alien rifle. the thumbside is grooved like a golf-ball which, surprising to me, is really comfortable.i have fat aggressive mechanics thumbs which have been hit with every tool in my tool box twice, and the buttons on the side are seriously well located. the default setup is rather nice, page back and forth are at your thumb. =] mmmmm thats a nice bonus.

its larger than my logitech, but by FAR more comfortable and more ergonomic.

it takes way less effort to press a button.

it glides far smoother

it extremely light-weight yet there is an undeniable lower center mass.

all in all i love it and cant wait to finish getting parts for my gamer.
